What you’ll be doing:
As an HR Specialist, you will be responsible for providing support to the human resources department by processing and maintaining employee records through the Human Resource Information System (HRIS).
- Maintain up-to-date employee records by processing employee status changes, completing on-boarding and processing hires through the human capital management system in timely fashion
- Maintain an accurate listing of complete and incomplete I-9s for all new hires to ensure the agency is in compliance with I-9 requirements
- Assist the Employment Verification Specialist with processing backgrounds for the Career Services participants
- Assist in verifying employment for agencies that are unable to utilize our automated employment verification system
- Assist in the finger printing process for Career Services staff
- Be responsible for maintaining the HR Help Desk ticketing system and assist with the maintenance and/or technical issues of the human capital management system.
- Assist and provide support to internal and external customers in accessing and utilizing the human capital management system
- Provide backup assistance in administering and monitoring background results, performance evaluations and other employee changes to ensure all evaluations are completed within the established timeframe
- Run reports from the human capital management system to review employee records and perform data entry updates/corrections into the system as needed to maintain accurate information

Requirements:
- An Associate’s Degree in Human Resources, Business or related discipline
- One or more (1+) years’ experience in data entry, HRIS, human resources, and/or business administration
- Effective decision making skills
- Proficient and familiar with human resources information systems
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Maintain dependable transportation and communication devices
Preferences:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business or related discipline preferred
- Prior military experience
- Nonprofit experience
